home-portraitsquare-360x365Dr. Smith is a Clinical Psychologist who works with teens, adults, older adults, and couples who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, transition, infidelity, communication issues, addictions, and other concerns that may warrant a clinical disorder, pathology, or personal dissatisfaction. Dr. Smith incorporates a variety of treatment interventions ranging from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to Mindfulness. She is focused on the client-centered connection so that you feel safe to explore inter- and intra-personal processes however they may emerge.

Individual and couples therapy, life coaching, consultations, motivational talks, therapy groups, and workshops are all venues in which Dr. Smith facilitates.

To ensure that she is a good fit for your needs, Dr. Smith offers a FREE initial consultation for up to 15 minutes either by phone, Telepsychology, or face-to-face so that you can ask her questions and to be assured of your choice. She understands that you need to feel ‘connected’ or else you won’t feel motivated to continue this process!

Telepsychology is offered as an alternative to face-to-face sessions for clients who are appropriate. Telepsychology is the delivery of psychological services using interactive audio or audiovisual electronic system on the internet. The interactive electronic systems used in telepsychology incorporate network and software security protocols from WeCounsel.com. This is to protect the confidentiality of patient information and audio and visual data. If you are interested in setting up tele-sessions, please discuss this with Dr. Smith. Educational Background

Dr. Smith received her Doctorate of Psychology Degree (Psy.D.) in 1997 at the California School of Professional Psychology, San Diego. Her Master’s Degree was obtained in 1995. And, her Bachelor’s Degree was completed in 1994 at California State University, Northridge in Los Angeles, California. Pre-and Post-Doctoral Internships were completed between 1995-1997 in Rochester, NY.

Clinical Background & Experiences

Throughout her clinical training, Dr. Smith worked with hearing, Deaf, and Hard of Hearing individuals in both inpatient and outpatient programs as follows: Inpatient psychiatric, alcohol & drug addictions, eating disorders, community outpatient centers, school counseling centers, mobile crisis and emergency services, and homeless outreach.

Dr. Smith is the coauthor of a book chapter, “The Misfit: A Deaf Adolscent Struggles for Meaning,” in The Casebook for Integrating Family Therapy. 2001.
